More cities choose to build downtown bypass tunnels

The NCC, MTO, MTQ, and cities of Ottawa and Gatineau continue to charge down the path of building a new 1960's style high speed, high volume arterial bridge in the vicinity of existing neighbourhoods and through undeveloped urban greenspace. At the same time, this project seems likely to spread trucks into more neighbourhoods in the east end of the cities while not even properly clearing up the existing problem in downtown Ottawa. Meanwhile other cities continue to embark on downtown tunnel projects to solve exactly this same problem. The City of Seattle is the newest addition to the list.
